Soul Strolls

By Historic Congressional Cemetery (other events)

4 Dates Through Oct 26, 2019

ABOUT ABOUT

Trespass into the past and discover the secrets of some of Congressional Cemetery’s “residents.” Soul Strolls, the Cemetery’s annual twilight tours, explore the stories of individuals buried here through guided tours and costumed interpreters. Experience the history of this hallowed ground exactly the way it should be experienced in October – in twilight and darkness, happening upon vignettes and individuals under the guidance of one of our “Dozen Decent Docents.”

Soul Strolls take place over four nights, October 18th-19th and October 25th-26th. Hour-long tours depart every 15 minutes between 7 and 10 pm for our Friday tours, and 6 and 10 pm for our Saturday tours. Beer, wine, and cider will be for sale at our cash bar in the Chapel. Adult tickets are $25; children 12 and under are $12. Attendees can arrive early to grab a glass of wine and browse our HCC gift shop.

We are again excited to offer a VIP option to a select group of visitors. Our Public Vault will be transformed into a Victorian-era funeral parlor harkening back to a time when cemeteries were popular destinations - which it seems they now are again. At the conclusion of the public tour, your docent will lead you to the Public Vault, where VIPs will be admitted to a cocktail party. Each VIP ticket includes: three drink tickets (can be used in the pre-tour bar in Chapel or the Public Vault), the public guided Soul Strolls tour, as well as admission into the post-tour VIP area.

Please Note: The Cemetery is unable to offer refunds or tour time changes, so please keep this in mind when purchasing tickets.

There are a limited number of General Admission tickets available on-site only on the night-of the event on a first-come, first-served basis. These tickets are $30.

Comfortable shoes are encouraged, as are flashlights. Tours will not stay on the paths, so please be ready for uneven terrain.

This event is rain or shine.
