Soul Strolls 2022: Criminal Sins

By Historic Congressional Cemetery (other events)

60 Dates Through Oct 22, 2022

ABOUT ABOUT

Around the dawn of the 20th century, Washington, DC and the United States of America was a hot bed of activities deemed to be sinful. Gambling was rampant, prostitution was legal, and violence was just another part of life. Millions of individuals engaged in and with the criminal world, some innocent victims and others willful perpetrators. Immerse yourself in the world of criminal sin and discover the secrets of Congressional Cemetery's interred residents in this year's Soul Strolls.

Our annual twilight tours explore the stories of individuals buried here through guided tours and costumed interpreters. Experience the history of this hallowed ground exactly the way it should be experienced in October – in twilight and darkness, happening upon vignettes and individuals in a walking tour led by one of our expert guides.

Soul Strolls take place over four nights, October 14th-15th and October 21st-22nd.

Hour-long tours depart every 15 minutes between 6:00 and 9:30 pm. The 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM tours are smaller and exclusively VIP. The gates open at 5:30 but we ask that you please not arrive until at least 1 hour before the start of your tour. Costumes are encouraged and welcomed from attendees.

Alcoholic Beverages will be on sold at our main thematic bar at the Chapel.

VIP tickets include:

  • smaller, more private tour of 15 people

  • 3 drink tickets

  • A VIP Swag Bag

  • An exclusive visit to our Public Vault cocktail bar at the conclusion of the tour.

Please Note: The Cemetery is unable to offer refunds or tour time changes, so please keep this in mind when purchasing tickets. Tickets are non-transferable.

Comfortable shoes are encouraged, as are flashlights. Tours will not stay on the paths, so please be ready for uneven terrain.
