Immerse yourself in the natural and cultural features of Congressional Cemetery through an outdoor mindfulness tour. Outdoor mindfulness is akin to Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, a Japanese wellness practice that helps individuals access the healing properties of nature. Research shows that extended contemplative time in nature calms the mind, promotes well-being, and cultivates a profound sense of belonging. The session begins with warm-ups, centering, and breathing exercises. These are followed by a non-strenuous walk, and an extended sit. We will slow down, be curious, and take time to connect with the natural and historic place that is Congressional Cemetery. Limited to 20 participants. In the event of rain, the makeup day will be the next day, Sept 10, at 1:00 PM.
