In honor of the 157th anniversary of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, join this FREE tour to learn about the myriad connections between the people buried at Congressional Cemetery who have a direct association with the assassination.
You will discover many of our residents, such as:
* One of the conspirators who was with John Wilkes Booth during the entire 12 days of his escape
* Lincoln's personal valet, who was with him when he was assassinated
* The doctor that tended to Booth's broken leg during his escape
* and MANY others.
Please come prepared with comfortable clothing and shoes, as the tour may stray from the main paved paths. Meet by the gatehouse at the cemetery entrance. Visitors may meet docents at the front gate. Please be aware that the cemetery is open to dogs during the week, so please only visit if you're comfortable with off-leash pups.
Tours are free, but a reservation is required. Tours are limited to 25 people. You do not have to bring the ticket with you. Walk-ups will be allowed as space permits.
