Soul Strolls 2018

By Historic Congressional Cemetery (other events)

4 Dates Through Oct 27, 2018

ABOUT ABOUT

Soul Strolls is sold out online. There are a limited number of General Admission tickets available on-site only on the night-of the event on a first-come, first-served basis. These tickets are $30.

Trespass into the past and discover the secrets of some of Congressional Cemetery’s “residents.” Soul Strolls, the Cemetery’s annual twilight tours, explore the stories of individuals buried here through guided tours and costumed interpreters. Experience the history of this hallowed ground exactly the way it should be experienced in October – in twilight and darkness, happening upon vignettes and individuals under the guidance of one of our “Dozen Decent Docents.”

Soul Strolls take place over four nights, October 19th -20th and October 26th-27th. Hour-long tours depart every 15 minutes between 7 and 10 pm for our Friday tours, and 6 and 10 pm for our Saturday tours. Beer, wine, and cider will be for sale at our cash bar in the Chapel. Adult tickets are $25; children 12 and under are $12. Attendees can arrive early to grab a glass of wine, browse our HCC gift shop, and listen to music while waiting for tours to depart.

We are again excited to offer a VIP option to a select group of visitors. Our Public Vault will be transformed into “Circa 1807”, an early 19th-century soiree harkening back to the years that the cemetery was founded and DC was a new town. At the conclusion of the public tour, your docent will lead you to the Public Vault, where VIPs will be admitted to a cocktail party that Dolley Madison would have been proud to throw – and perhaps she’ll even make an appearance? You’ll have the opportunity to interact with a few of the leading gents and ladies of a budding Washington, D.C. while sipping craft cocktails in and around the vault itself. In addition, the newly-restored Gadsby Vault will be open for visitors to peek in for a “flashlight tour” – a rare occurrence.  Each VIP ticket includes: three drink tickets (can be used in the pre-tour bar in Chapel or the Public Vault), the public guided Soul Strolls tour, as well as admission into the post-tour VIP area.

Please Note: The Cemetery is unable to offer refunds or tour time changes, so please keep this in mind when purchasing tickets.

Comfortable shoes are encouraged, as are flashlights. Tours will not stay on the paths, so please be ready for uneven terrain.

This event is rain or shine.
