ABOUT ABOUT

Make the most out of your Cinematery experience and join us for the ultimate VIP sneak preview. Our gates open at 7:30 to the public for this event, but a few special guests can get in early to take an evening stroll through Congressional Cemetery's sprawling 35 acres, guided by one of our expert Dozen Decent Docents. For your VIP ticket, you receive entrance into Cinematery (typically a $10 donation), two drink tickets, and a one-hour guided tour highlighting some of the Cemetery's forward-thinking "residents": men and women who led the way in science and exploration and should be remembered for their unique achievements. Learn about one of American’s earliest paleontologists who belonged to a secret society of young scientists and lived his life in a tower of the Smithsonian castle.  And meet the Washington, DC dentist that invented the pre-eminent sniper rifle used by the Confederacy during Civil War. Hear these stories and many more: these individuals may not have cloned dinosaurs, but they were trailblazers in their lifetimes.

Guests can plant blankets and chairs in their preferred spot for the movie, and can leave any food or heavy items in the Chapel during the tour. Important: Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time (or even earlier) in order to ensure adequate time to check in, drop supplies, and grab beverages. If Cinematery is postponed due to rain, tour tickets will be either honored for our rain date (July 27th) or will be refunded at the request of the buyer. We are unable to offer refunds or transfer tickets for other reasons.
